Activities

Breeding
Dekker Chrysanten has created some of the most successful varieties of the last decades. Euro, Mona Lisa, the Madiba-group and more recent the Toshka and Greenlizard are all results of breeding which is aimed at distinctive shapes, renewed colours and favourable growing conditions. The requirements are strong: only few of the thousands seedlings produced annually will match to the strong selection criteria for market introduction. Besides we invest in both fundamental and practical research, which includes focussing on genetic, technical cultivation and trend-related improvements.

Propagation
The propagation of chrysanthemum cuttings is an essential part of our international market activities. These activities take place at our overseas facilities in Tanzania and Bolivia. The pricking-out (planting into a peat block) and rooting of the cuttings takes place in Holland. This process is fully automated, with the aid of its self-developed system, more than 20,000 cuttings per machine per hour can be planted. Currently, Dekker is using ten pricking-out machines in order to satisfy the increasing demand for cuttings.

Flowerproduction
We not only supply rooted and unrooted cuttings to our customers worldwide, but also grow chrysanthemum flowers ourselves. In this way we remain fully informed of developments within the area of cultivation and have first hand knowledge of what the customer is experiencing.
