History
Dekker Chrysanten is a typical ‘North-Holland’ family company with its roots in agriculture and horticulture. In the early 60’s the company transfers completely into cutflowers. From a simple cultivation company Dekker has grown in a few decades to be one of the major breeders.
In the early 90’s, the company established its own breeding practice. Only in this way new varieties can be obtained and quality within the complete chain can be secured. The successful market introduction of the first commercial Dekker variety the Vesuvio (1993) created a starting point. Vesuvio’s huge success within the market was the company’s motivation to continue changing its business direction. Dekker Chrysanten was dedicated to being able to offer 100% own varieties and thought up a system to bring them to market in a regulated way. The growing and cultivating processes were extensively automated and the labour intensive propagating was transferred to Tanzania and Bolivia.
Nowadays Dekker Chrysanten is one of the most modern and advanced companies within the sector. With a strong innovative focus with respect to the development of new varieties and production techniques. Commercially successful thanks to a unique selection of own varieties.
With approximately 1500 employees worldwide and customers on all continents Dekker Chrysanten can be marked as a real global player.
